At the end of October every year Daisy Roots Nursery shuts it's gates and goes into hibernation until the following spring.
However, just because the plants are hibernating it doesn't mean that I am ! People often ask me 'What do I do all winter?'
Well, during the 4 months that Daisy Roots closes there are many maintenance tasks on the nursery; fixing and maintaining the irrigation, paths, fences and then come January we literally start working our way through every single plant on the nursery and making sure every one is weeded, cutback and ready for opening time again in March.
In the office there's application forms for next years shows, the website to update, seeds, bulbs and plugs to order for next season.
Then there are the regular maintenance clients that Steve and I keep up with all through the year. So, although I get weekends off for 4 months of the year, there is no rest for the wicked.....
