'Papageno' is a seed strain that produces a whole variety of flower colours and shapes; some semi double, some with frilly petal edges in shades of white, pink, salmon and purple. You can't tell what you're going to get until the plants come into flower which is in spring, around Easter, giving rise to the common name of Pasque flower.
Flowers sit just above low mounds of downy foliage to 25cm. Enjoys poorish, well drained soil in a sunny spot. good on alkaline soils.
