Erect, strikingly vertical clumps to 1.7 metres when in flower. Greenish flower plumes open in June, often tinged in pink at first. As flowers age they turn pale biscuit and 'close up', becoming more narrow and linear.

Can be evergreen in mild climates but loses all folaige in cold winters. Likes a sunny spot in well drained soil that doesn't bake dry
