We will be holding a series of talks & workshops at the nursery this year in an effort to inform & inspire our customers.

The talks will cost £6.50 each and are to be held on Saturday mornings from 10.30am to approx midday. Numbers are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Choose from the following:

''Shady Characters'' Saturday April 17th

All gardens have a shady spot somewhere, whether it is caused by fences, buildings or trees.

Shade is often perceived as a difficult area to deal with in the garden. Join us for Shady Characters and discover how to turn your shady area into a tapestry of interesting foliage and flower.

''What the Books Don't Tell You''(part I) Saturday May 8th

Text books great at telling us whether a particular plant likes sun or shade, what height it will grow to and how to propagate it.

What they don't say and what you, our customers, really want and need to know is when and how to cut it down, dead head it, stake it, lift and divide it, etc, etc, etc!

In the first of 2 lectures on border maintenance, we take a look at what needs doing to who in early summer, so that you get the very best possible display from your plants. Feel free to ask your own questions and dress appropriately for the weather

''Good in Bed'' Saturday June 26th

This talk will introduce you to all those herbaceous plants that flower for longer than average and really earn their keep, whether your garden is big or small.

We will look at those plants that naturally flower for many weeks, sometimes months and also discuss the best methods of dead heading many others to keep them flowering.

''Some Like It Hot'' Saturday August 21st

In view of climate change and hose pipe bans, we take a look at those plants that, not only look good, but have very obligingly spent millennia adapting to dry climates, making them drought tolerant.

We will also discuss measures for conserving water in the garden

''What the Books Don't Tell You'' (part II) Saturday October 9th

(See June for part I) Part II will deal with putting the border to bed for the year, which plants to cut down, which to leave, mulching, lifting and splitting clump forming plants and absolutely everything else you need to know! Dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
